On February 23, 2021, Corey James Wilson, beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away at the age of 59.
Born on February 16, 1962, in Salinas, California to Lyle and Vicki Wilson, Corey was a natural athlete who excelled at both football and track and field; he was particularly skilled at pole vaulting and the high jump where he set high school records and competed at the State level. Corey’s incredible athletic abilities garnered him numerous awards and accolades.
In 1981, he attended College of the Siskiyous in Weed, California where he continued to shine at football and track and field.
Corey later bought property and moved to the Bay Area where he became a master tile setter for Rigney Tile Company. Due to his incomparable skills with tile, along with his outstanding work ethic, knowledge, and creativity, Corey quickly made a name for himself in the Bay Area. His creative and specialized tile projects were always in demand. A nationally televised home improvement show even filmed one of his original, ingenious bathroom projects and featured it prominently on the show! Corey would often drive around the Bay Area pointing out buildings, major corporations, and residences where he had installed tile. He was very proud of the work he accomplished and the improvements he made to people’s homes and businesses with his remarkable skillset.
