Honoring the Life of Marian Ann Garric
Born July 21,1938 ~ Passing peacefully December 28, 2020
Marian was born to Lois and Irving St Charles in San Francisco. I remember her stories of going to see picture-shows with her brothers for a nickel and buying treats with pennies. In 1955 she married her first husband, Clella Ray Bowen. They had four children together, Deanna, Debbie, Clella “Buddy” and Randy Bowen. Later in 1966 she remarried, Charles “Bud” August Garric. They relocated from San Francisco to beautiful South Lake Tahoe. There they had a son, Charles “Chuck” August Garric Jr., and bought a home together.
Her family continued to grow with three grandchildren, Amber, Heidi and Steven. As her first granddaughter, I have fond memories of all the family being together for holidays and birthdays through the years. Her home was always warm and welcoming to all. She seemed happy to make it her life’s purpose to give all she could to her family. In 1986 she and her husband Bud relocated to Placerville. They enjoyed “picking parties” and other bluegrass gatherings, along with the usual family times. Her heart made room for more grandchildren, Alisha, Sammy, and great-granddaughter Coral Rose. She whole heartedly embodied being a grandma.
After Bud’s passing, Placerville continued to be her home, and became very dear to her heart in her older age. She made so many friends. Working at the Mountain Democrat, helping care for the elderly and attending the many celebrations the historic downtown had to offer. She regularly enjoyed live music and karaoke with her best friend and partner, Stan. Her home continued to be an open house for her family in times of need and celebration, always with the sound of her beloved pet doves singing in the background.
Marian was truly young at heart. Her positivity and love for life was a gift to all who knew her. Her wisdom was simple yet profound. She always had a way of seeing the good in situations and people. I remember her saying many times “If its meant to be, it’s meant to be”. Her authentic simple truth was helpful in keeping worry and stress at bay. She will be deeply missed. Her joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who love her.
A celebration of life, in loving memory of a wonderful Woman, Mother, Grandmother and Friend will be held as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. We look forward to hearing and sharing stories full of the laughter, love and joy with which she filled all our hearts and lives!
