On Wednesday March 11, 2020 Paul Warun, loving husband and father to two children passed
away at the age of 84. Paul was born on August 15, 1935 in Manitoba Canada to Izydor and
Nettie Warun. After attending high school in Winnipeg, Paul put himself through the University
of Manitoba on a Royal Canadian Air Force Scholarship. He graduated in May of 1958 with a
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. After University, Paul served four years in the
RCAF as a Radio Officer reaching the rank of Flight Officer. While serving in the air force Paul
met the love of his life, Sandra and the two were married on May 26, 1962. Paul and Sandra
moved to Montreal, Canada where they had two children Ken and Jennifer. Paul was active in
coaching them in various sports and was always proud of their accomplishments. He joined
Northern Electric/Northern Telecom/Nortel where he worked for 36 years before retiring in 1998.
Paul’s two great passions were travel and theater. In retirement he and Sandra
circumnavigated the globe twice, and spent months living as locals in far off countries and
destinations. Paul had an incredible number of harrowing and humorous travel stories that he
loved to tell with a wink and mischievous grin. His love of the theater began in 1955 while he
was stationed in Clinton, Ontario and went to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. He continued
to attend and support the festival through 2019. Paul would also make a point to see live
theater wherever he was living and traveled often to London and New York to see plays. Paul is
proceeded in death by his beloved wife Sandra (2009), his brother Matt, and his sister Iris. He
is survived by his daughter Jennifer Warun, and his son and daughter in-law Ken and Alicia
Warun, his sister Olga Wagner, his brother Ronnie Warun, a niece and five nephews. Should
friends desire, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Public
Broadcasting Service in Paul’s memory.
